A few comments on the last game to start the gossip...

Last night we had the luxury of 3 subs and everybody being on time. The only one missing was Kevin Roberts. He is still missing in action and nobody knows what happened to him until now. Maybe we just forgot to carry him to the game and he is still waiting somewhere in the office to get picked up.

Best player of the game was Ralf, the 'invincible German wall'. There is no doubt that he played the best goalie we saw in this league so far. He had at least 5 or more saves that would have been goals with any other goalie. And he sacrificed himself by playing with an injured leg and having a sick kid and a sick cat (!!!) at home. That is team spirit!

Best field player of the game was Frank for me. I was a bit worried not having Joe, the 'whirlwind' in the team yesterday, but Frank replaced him well dribbling like crazy to keep 1,2 sometimes 3 players of the other team busy. And the ref likes him...

Best excuse for not coming to the game: Joe "have to attend a baptism class", and I thought soccer is our religion.

Worst preparation for the game: Armin for buying that beer that nobody can open without a real bottle opener. We had at least 4 broken bottles trying to open them 'our usual way'. That reminds me: any bottle opener donations are more than welcome.

This time, we had a lot of luck on the ref calls. Usually, we get the bad calls. But this time it was really the other way around. We haven't figured out yet, why the ref favored us. So, here are some of theories about that:

a) the ref just hates the other team more than us

b) the ref is in love with Frank

c) Joe was not there to piss off the ref

Goals scored in Workdaze vs D4 4-3

I think Armin scored the last goals, so that we had the following scorers:
Armin (1), Frank (1), Thomas (2)

Game Report: Workdaze - D4 4:3

Another hard-fought and close game. We had beat D4 once last season and lost once, so we knew we were up against a strong team. We had 3 subs this time, so we were setup well. Joe was missing from the starting line-up, but Frank was a rare but strong addition.

In the first half, we got 0:2 down quickly after their strongest player (the blond guy) broke through our defense twice on the left side and fired hard shots. We had tons of 100% scoring opportunities but missed all of them. It was a matter of time to get on the scoreboard. We finally did by a nice goal from Thomas to go with 2:1 into halftime.

Beginning of the second half, we were under tremendous pressure for about 10 minutes but managed to hold on to the 2 scores. D4 got a blue card and we immediately scored on them (Frank from a nice freekick). We then went up 3:2 on another nice goal by Thomas. After a bit the ref called a 3-line pass against D4 and their goalie freaked out. He was aggressive from the get-go, but went off on the ref so he got a red card and probably a season suspension. Things heated up after that with fouls and talk. We played very poor in the 5 minutes we were one man up, so our powerplay needs some improvement. But we managed to score the 4:2 (Frank) which sort of clinched the game. With 9 minutes on the clock, we had turned the game. D4 fought back hard but we only gave up one more goal to win it 4:3.

A strong comeback and good morale. Nice game overall!!!
