Recap:
Workdaze capped their first ever perfect season with a resounding win over Vanderbilt. The victory propels Workdaze into the playoffs to face D4. With a loss Vanderbilt is eliminated from playoff contention.
In the team fashion that has highlighted this session for Workdaze, every player was on the scorecard except for Geoff who played brilliantly in goal. Geoff changed his flight to play tonight hoping to add to his season scoring totals. Instead without Kevin available, he filled in nicely only allowing a single goal in the first half.
The team looked great and the game was never really close. Vanderbilt was short on players with only one sub. Workdaze was able to tire them out, and quickly in the first half it was apparent that Workdaze was winning nearly every ball. Thomas added two goals early to get them off to the right start.
The goal of the game came on a 'white dot' free kick. Steve took the kick, and passed to a streaking Seamus on the right side. Seamus blasted in the goal for his first of the session.
The goal by Seamus gave everyone on the team at least one with the exception of Kevin the regular keeper. Every player on the team this year had at least one goal or assist (including Kevin). This shows how dangerous of a team Workdaze will be in the playoffs next week. Workdaze ends the session with 66 goals averaging over 8 per game, while giving up only 23 for an astounding 43 goal differential.
Workdaze should have nearly a full squad for the playoffs. They will need all their players rested and healthy. The goal of the night is to win two games. To do that Workdaze needs to focus on winning one, and having enough left to win another an hour later. This team has the players to do just that.
Workdaze faces D4 who they narrowly defeated earlier in the season 9-7 in the semi-finals at 7:25pm.
