Our best game, still not good enough

Workdaze definitely put in our best game this season, but lost nonetheless by one goal. We had to replace our regular defense (Jon injured, Seamus father duties) as well as Joe (soccer coach meeting, really...). But the with Frank and Thomas back, we had a good team.

D4 is a good team and they picked up 4 new player that aren't bad either. Also, they are always playing tough and borderline unfair, so we knew what was coming. Workdaze scored the first goal after a bunch a hard shots fired at their goalie. Then D4 came back with a goal before Guillermo had his entrance. In quick order we got 4 minutes (Armin), 4 minutes (Kevin) and 2 minutes (Frank) to be left with only 2 (!!!) field players. While Thomas was still putting on the goalie gloves, D4 scored the 2:1. Mark was able to equalize before halftime.

We got the usual "play nicely or I'll shut down the league" speech by Rick during halftime and things started calmer after that. We had some more good chances, but D4 got a gift penalty when Kevin was sliding into a D4 guy to save the ball. That sealed the 3:2. Finally D4 got up 4:2, but Armin brought us closer with his powerful goal for 4:3. With one minute on the clock we fought hard, but missed several shots.

All in all, definitely our best game this season. Still, the ref is continuing to ruin games likes this one and we have to stop getting card for talking back at him. All the league teams got strong new players and stepped it. And so must we...next game must be won if we want to make the playoffs this season!
