Workdaze finishes regular season in 2nd place

Again, the Workdaze soccer team finishes the regular Winter season in second place. We had our last game of the regular season yesterday. See Ralf's game report and the statistics below. Here is also a link to the League Standings: http://ezleagues.ezfacility.com/league.aspx?league_id=16094

It looks like the hierachy in the league remains the same.Our biggest rival remains to be Clayton FC. However, the playoffs may be good for a suprise this time. Although Clayton is still in 1st place, we got a bit closer by now. We were able to beat them this season for the first time a couple weeks ago. And for the first time, we will have all key players on board for the playoffs. But in the semi-final on Monday, we first have to get passed by D4, a team that beat us badly during the regular season. We have to be careful and focused, but it's also a good opportunity for a revenge.

Game 8: Clayton FC - Workdaze (5:1)

Well well well, we lost bad to our arch rivals (the British Bastards I would call them). They were plain better and beat us 5:1. We didn't have Seamus on defense and most noticeably Joe on offense. We were 2:0 down on half-time by 2 goals where their striker just outran defense. We had our chances but their goalie was pretty awesome last night and we didn't have the aim we needed. Second half we thought we could come back, but missed more scoring opportunities and finally got 3 more goals. We also missed a penalty, but Jon scored the honorary goal for us. The ref was questionable as usual and the game was rough.

But we are in the play-offs anyways and have the semi-final on Monday at 6:35. If we pull ourselves together, we hopefully make it to the final which is on Thursday.

The game was cancelled, because the other team did not show up.
