Game 3: Workdaze defeats Vanderbilt 5:2 (2:1)

Game Report from Team Manager David Epstein:

Bye bye Vanderbilt. The nice thing about this revenge victory is that we probably returned the favor from last season, knocking them out of the playoffs as they had done to us in the final game. They are now 0-3 and still have to play Munchenbox and D4 a 2nd time.

We were up 2-1 at half, thanks to great play by new backup goalie Lael (I think at least one diving save and another leg save in the first half, probably more like ½ dozen diving saves), and I know the bench felt we were lucky to hold onto the 2-1 lead for the first 8 min or so of the 2nd half (again, lots of great saves by Lael).

Going up 3-1 might have broken them, but overall I think we simply wore them out at approx the ¾ mark. Their shots and long passes started to hit the net mid way through the 2nd half … I mean a lot of passes and shots into the net. They were tired, and down by 2 goals.

Here is what I have for the goals:

-Dan assisted by Chuao/Paul

-Scott assisted by Robert

-Scott assisted by David

-Mark assisted by the best player on the other team, who finally gave up the ball, in a great spot, right in front of the net. Actually, Mark dribbled for a while and this guy took the ball from Mark, and Mark stuck on him as this guy dribbled back towards his own goal. If you cannot tell, I really liked this goal … shows that after losing the ball, stick with it, and get it right back!

-Attila assisted by ? (again, probably the other team). This was one of those impossible angles, from the bench I have no idea how it went in (did the goalie hit it in?)

Anyway, please reply with corrections to the goals and assists, and any stories (for those over in Dublin and Germany who live for the Thur night recaps).
