3 goals, 2 toes - worth it?

I will leave writing the game report to someone else, but suffice it to say Workdaze's and my 6th season ended in somewhat of a mess. With games getting more and more out of control it was only a matter of time before someone gets injured and we need to think if this works for us. Two broken toes is not that bad, but I really wanted to play soccer, not ultimate fighting challenge.

Don't get me wrong: I do think D4 is a perfectly hateable team. And in all honesty, they would have probably beat us last night in the end. But the real issue is, as usual, the ref. Every game takes the same route: Guillermo does not call anything against the other team, but dishes out blue cards against Workdaze at will. This typically offers the other team several goals per game. You can't really win that way. But even worse, tempers flare up quickly and the game gets out of hand. This raises the risk of injuries and lowers the fun. I like a rough physical game and I play to win, but last night simply was about fighting.

Worst of all, Rick does not seem to be doing anything about the multitude of complaints he gets about his ref. We pay $1000 a season for this and I would expect a competitive, fun and safe league for that. Workdaze has to decide if we want to play next season or withdraw. Personally, I feel without a change in the rules of the game at San Ramon Sports it might be time to look for an alternative.
