Recap:
Workdaze narrowly advanced to the finals with a 4:3 victory over rivals D4 in the semi-final.
The game started out with each team unable to score early on. Workdaze clearly had some nerves as a factor, and D4 was unable to mount an attack. Attila opened the scoring with a steal and solo effort in the D4 zone.
The combination of the D4 goalie, and the goal posts kept D4 in the game, as Workdaze could not catch a break on offense. Workdaze had opportunity after opportunity but could not get the ball in the net. Kevin was able to hold D4's offense off and keep the game within reach.
D4 scored the 3:2 late in the second half. This looked to be the nail in the coffin on Workdaze's perfect season and championship hopes. However Workdaze sent it's best team on the attack. With 1 minute remaining, Thomas calmly lead the final effort to tie the game. With 20 seconds remaining, Ralf scored from an impossible angle as the defense wasn't expecting a left foot. The Workdaze bench and fans erupted as they knew they had a shot again.
In overtime Mark scored the 4:3. Workdaze appeared to kill the final effort from D4 as time expired. However, Guillermo decided that there was a penalty on Workdaze and gave D4 a free kick and added more time on the clock. Kevin came through with the final save as Guillermo tried to add even more time.
The game took a lot out of the entire Workdaze team. Fred's Market easily advanced in the other semi-final, so Workdaze will face a tough, and more rested opponent.
