The makeup game that almost never happened...
Sunday morning started with an email from team captain Jon out to the team stating that the scheduled makeup game with Vanderbilt was off. This was later followed by Kevin receiving a phone call one hour before gametime from facility manager, Rick, that what Jon heard in the morning was incorrect. The game was on and Vanderbilt planned to show up! This led to frantic phone calls from Kevin to whoever he could get a hold of. This included luring Dan Ballough out of retirement! By gametime we had managed to assemble a makeshift team, that while it was a man short, we were allowed to play. The team consisted of Jon, Kevin, Frank, Mark J (with kids in tow), and Dan.
The first 10 minutes of the game were played a man down which led to a 0-2 deficit before Saul arrived(leaving his beer, lunch & wife behind at Pyramid Brewing Company where they were having a little celebration ... now that's a team player!) David and Saeed followed shortly after giving us a couple subs for the remainder of the game. We played well the remainder of the game, but could never seem to overcome the early two goal hole. The final score was 3-5. Overall, we played a great game and really showed the team spirit in assembling a squad only one hour before gametime.
Goals - Frank, David, Mark
Assists - Saul (2)
